Press Release – PD makes arrest in counterfeit transaction at local business

Chattahoochee— May 14, 2021On April 14, 2021, Chattahoochee Police Department (CPD) responded to a local store in reference to a transaction that occurred where an individual paid using counterfeit bills. During the investigation, Sgt. Dixon, with assistance from Sneads Police Department, was able to determine the individual who passed the counterfeit bills as Daniel Quincey, 26, of Grand Ridge, FL.

On April 19, 2021, Sgt. Dixon, Sneads Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle that Quincey was driving when he made the counterfeit transaction. The homeowner in Grand Ridge gave Sgt. Dixon consent to search her residence for counterfeit currency and equipment used to manufacture counterfeit bills. Quincey resides with the homeowner in Grand Ridge. During the search of the residence, investigators found equipment used to manufacture counterfeit bills and several counterfeit bills that had already been printed.

Quincey was arrested by JCSO for manufacturing counterfeit bills. CPD submitted a probable cause affidavit for Quincey charging him with uttering false bank notes and possession of false bank notes.

The United States Secret Service was notified of the incident and plans to open an investigation on Quincey.
